Applications open for ASA CEO position
The Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA) is calling for applications for the position of permanent CEO by 15 September 2017; interviews will take place during September. This is in accordance with the business rescue plan adopted by creditors on 25 April.
The ASA is a self-regulating independent body, established by the marketing communications industry and mandated by this industry to ensure the protection of both consumers and the industry which it serves. The ASA has been safeguarding consumers and protecting advertising freedom since 1968, and continues to enforce, adopt and uphold its Code of Advertising Practice in an impartial and objective manner.
The business rescue plan — with the purpose of returning the ASA to solvency, limiting overheads, reducing litigation risk and implementing a sustainable funding model — is ongoing. To this end, a new board was elected in May 2017, with Gail Schimmel taking up the position of interim CEO soon thereafter.
Prospective candidates must to submit their CVs by 15 September to the business rescue practitioner’s representative, Tiaan Herbst, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Interviews with applicants will be held during this month and an announcement on the outcome of the process will be made by the ASA shortly thereafter.
